- The Truman Show (1998)
While watching The Truman Show, the movie had opened my eyes when Truman was told that he was on a TV show. It made me think:
What if I have been living my life as blindly as Truman?

Throughout the film, we learn that our hero has been living life in this fantasy world and he accepts that it is real because it was the world given to him. It made me think that possibly, the people I know now are illusions I've created in my head. And the things that I think and feel are an illusion and nothing really matters.
Even if the world is just a manifestation of my thoughts, then I would rather not think about that and just life live happily until it is my turn to retire.
Yes, this is a show you and I are the main characters and we cannot escape. JKJK. But there is a disease called the Truman Disease because of the movie.
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny that you say that phrase, at the very end of the entry. There is a possibility, though highly unlikely, that this life is all somebody else's entertainment. Things like that don't really occur to people, and when they do, people brush it off. It's funny to me - I think it says that we would rather live in a "fantasy" than find out that the truth is even worse - which I think is what was going through Christof's mind throughout the movie.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I do wonder if my somethings in my life are illusions, or are being put there for a reason. I know that is probably so far fetched, but the movie did make me think about life. And I really like the cat picture you used!
